1. Ignition System Service:

Original green armature coils on these OMC-built motors often develop cracked epoxy insulation over time, causing intermittent spark or complete failure once warm. Inspect and replace the coils with modern epoxy-molded replacements, set the breaker point gaps to .020 inches, and replace old spark plug wires.
2. Cooling System & Water Pump:
Never start a motor that has been sitting without inspecting the rubber water pump impeller first. Old rubber blades harden, set, or disintegrate, sending debris into the cooling passages. Replace the impeller with a fresh unit and clear any dried salt or mineral buildup from the water jackets before test-running the engine.
3. Fuel System & Carburetor:
